A pattern is derived before a series of fittings is conducted with the client, literally hand sewing the garment together to achieve the perfect fit. A made to measure suit also uses customer measurements but uses an existing pattern or ‘block’ to create the pattern. Normally requires less fittings as the first fitting is conducted using the finished garment.
